Day 7: One Week Marker!
As of today, I’ve hit the one-week marker of daily updates. It’s difficult sometimes to log in every day and write up the details, but at least I’m able to do it consistently. My Kanji (漢字) studies are going well, and I’m staying caught up on them. Here’s the stats for today: 54 reviews, 25 new 漢字. ~5.5 hours streamed Japanese audio and TV (for immersion) “Read” about 5 pages worth of Japanese text. I’m doing today’s update a little sooner because I won’t be able to get to it this afternoon. Anything done after now will be included in tomorrow’s post.
Day 6 Update
こんにちわ！I’ve made much better progress today than over the weekend. Here’s the breakdown: 199 kanji reviews, 25 new kanji ~4 hours of streamed j-radio ~5 Japanese pages “read” (more like skimmed over since I can’t understand that much yet). I also converted some of the web sites I visit regularly to use Japanese versions. Incidentally, I am aware that the posts from this past weekend were late, but I did get them posted today (and backdated them). I’ll include anything else I do later today in my post for tomorrow.
Well, I have to be honest here. I didn’t get to do that much in the way of my studies today. I was busy. Regardless, I did pick up my Bleach book for a few minutes and flipped through some pages. I guess that counts for something, at least. Back to the reviews tomorrow, I hope.
Day 1: Regular Updates Begin
I’ve decided to roll with a new idea I heard about. Daily Updates. Crazy, right? Yep, probably definitely. So, what will these daily updates include? Basically, it’s like a journal of what I’ve done that day toward learning Japanese. It’s a brief snapshot of where I am on a day-to-day basis. And if I fail to have an update (a.k.a. fail to study) I have to post that as well. The posts won’t be long (in fact, they will typically be very short), and only be about the topic of what I’m studying. My other articles about inspiration, tools, etc. will still come out, but be separate. But… why? The answer to this is simple, really. It gives me something that I have to answer to. Nobody likes posting about their failures, so perhaps this will serve as additional motivation. […]
